New Bern (NC) offensive lineman Julian Williams returned today from his official visit to Virginia Tech. What did the 6-4, 285-pound prospect have to say about his experience in Blacksburg?
“I enjoyed it,” Williams said. He was hosted by Noland Burchette. “It was good. I enjoyed hanging with the players and the coaches and getting to know all of them a little bit better. I like how the team sticks together. I saw the team in the locker room after the game, and I thought they were really together. They played together as a team very well.”
With how comfortable a player feels on campus being such a big factor, Williams answered how he felt on his experience at Tech.
“I felt good,” Williams said. “I felt like I fit in there. I had fun with the players and I think our personalities mixed well.”
Other reports have Williams favoring N.C. State over the rest of his schools. Williams says that is not the case however.
“I don’t know why everyone is saying that,” Williams said. “I’ve been to a lot of N.C. State games, but I’m not sure right now. I probably want to take all 5 visits before I decide. I’m taking it easy and taking things one day at a time.”
Virginia Tech, which offered Williams a few weeks ago, is recruiting the talented lineman to play offensive tackle. Williams says he is being recruited by all schools as an offensive tackle.
Next up for Williams is an official visit to N.C. State, which he believes may be next weekend (but is not 100% sure). He’s considering Tennessee, UNC, Maryland, South Carolina and East Carolina in addition to N.C. State and Virginia Tech. He has offers from all except for South Carolina.
Williams will focus on his decision-making process now that his senior season is over. New Bern lost 20-19 to Green Hope in last Friday’s playoff matchup.
