Virginia Tech’s game versus the University of Virginia will be a big one not just on the field, but in terms of recruiting. Tech will host a number of official visitors that weekend, and another has been recently been added to the list.
Carter High School (Knoxville, TN) offensive line prospect Garrett Reynolds will make an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of November 26-28.
“I’ve set 3 visits so far,” Reynolds said. “I have one to Virginia Tech on November 27th, one to UNC the first weekend in December and one to Nebraska on December 17th. I don’t know yet if I’ll take more.”
Reynolds, who is most looking forward to Tech’s game atmosphere on his official visit next weekend, didn’t name an outright leader but did say that the Hokies are in good shape. Clemson, which has joined Virginia Tech at the top for some time, also remains seriously in the mix.
“They’re both definitely at the top,” Reynolds said of Clemson and Virginia Tech. “Especially Virginia Tech…they are definitely in my top few schools.”
Carter’s 2004 season has come to an end with the team finishing with a 3-7 record. Now, Reynolds will shift his focus to recruiting and “trying to narrow stuff down.” In addition to the 3 schools getting official visits, he’s also considering Clemson, Marshall and several more. He has not yet narrowed his list.
In each visit, Reynolds will be looking for “somewhere I feel comfortable around the area, the people and the coaches.” He is unsure of when he may have a decision.
While he focuses on recruiting, Reynolds will also focus on adding weight before he gets to college next year. At 6-7, he weighs 250-pounds and is looking to add at least 20 pounds by next Fall. He is being recruited by most schools as an offensive tackle.
