Rocky Mount (NC) cornerback Stephan Virgil had planned on taking an unofficial visit UNC on Saturday for the Virginia Tech/UNC football game. Because of an exhausting but productive performance on Friday night, the 5-11, 165-pound Virgil was unable to make it to Chapel Hill.
“I didn’t go to the game,” Virgil said. “We beat Northern Nash 40-0 the night before. I played really hard and made a lot of big hits. I overslept and didn’t make it to the game.”
He did watch the game however.
“I saw the whole game on TV,” Virgil said. “Both teams played real good. After the game, making my decision [between the 2 schools] any time soon got put down. I was looking at the position where I’d play, and both sides played well. Both sides made mistakes, but that’s expected. I thought both teams were even.”
Virgil will focus now on his season, as the playoffs begin this week. He will likely make official visits to UNC and ECU before announcing a decision. Those visits will come after his senior season is over.
UNC and Virginia Tech continue to be the favorites.
