Beddingfield (Wilson, NC) prospect Everette Brown, who is one of the top defensive end prospects in the nation, has been busy making a list of positives for each of the schools he’s considering. Five schools are now high on his list with a 6th still in contention.

“I’d say Virginia Tech, Florida State, Georgia, N.C. State and [North] Carolina” are the schools at the top of the positive list. “Tennessee has also been after me hard,” Brown said.

When asked if there was one school at the top of his list, Brown replied “without visiting Florida State’s or Georgia’s campus, I don’t think I can really say.”

Brown will travel to Florida State for an unofficial visit for the Florida game on November 20th. He is considering making an unofficial to Georgia as well, but is not sure when he could make it. In terms of official visits, he has not set any at this time but knows at least 2 destinations.

“I haven’t set any official visits,” Brown said. “I might take only 2 or 3 official visits before I decide. Out of state, I know I’m going to visit Virginia Tech and Florida State. Georgia’s another school in question. I may take one official visit to an in-state school, but I don’t know if I will. I’ve been to both of them so much that I think I know all I need to know.”

Virginia Tech appears to have several positives going for them. Brown listed what he likes about the Hokies right now.

“They have a good football program,” Brown said of Virginia Tech. “The coaches are stable. I know Coach Beamer isn’t going anywhere. They need defensive ends, so it’s a good situation coming in. I liked the campus. I’m going to take a visit to get a better feel for everything. They have a good Business school.”

Brown is not sure when he will set official visits, but the dates will be after his senior season is over. Beddingfield is 5-5 with one game remaining before the playoffs.

Did the UNC victory over Miami help the Tar Heels?

“I didn’t go to the Miami/UNC game, but I saw some of it,” Brown said. “It was a good game, and it was good to see the home team win a big game. I was surprised because I was wondering about UNC’s defense. You could say it has some effect. Not really the win, but earlier this year there was talk that the coaching staff was unstable. With 3 big wins this year, that could help out the situation.”
