Jackson (MI) quarterback/athlete Antonio Bass made an official visit to Virginia Tech a little over two weeks ago. There was a possibility that Bass would decide sometime soon, but that doesn’t appear to be the case now.
“Nothing’s really new on the horizon,” Jackson Head Coach Jack Fairly said. “I think he’s going to take an official visit to the University of Michigan, but that’s all I know. I’m sure he’ll take it before the end of the season.”
Fairly says 3 schools remain in serious contention for his star.
“I’d hate to say one way or the other, but I think it’s still Michigan, Virginia Tech and probably Notre Dame,” Fairly said. Florida also remains in the mix as well.
In the previous update, Fairly had mentioned Syracuse as another school that could get a visit. Fairly says that Bass hasn’t mentioned Syracuse too often recently, therefore he’s not sure if they will get a visit.
Virginia Tech, however, remains very strong on Bass’ list. Tech has done a good job of recruiting Bass after the official visit.
“He really, really enjoyed his visit,” Fairly said, referring to Tech. “He’s commented a lot of what a great time he had. He was impressed with Coach Rogers and he liked Coach Beamer. They recently sent him some information on their Business school. He was impressed with how they followed up after the visit.”
Jackson is off to a 1-3 start that could easily be 4-0. Jackson has lost each of the last three games in the final minute of play.
In game #3, Bass rushed for 187 yards on 16 carries and had 3 touchdowns. He completed 4 of 6 passes for 38 yards. In last week’s game, Bass rushed 12 times for 152 yards a 2 touchdowns including a 96 yard quarterback sneak. He completed 5 of 8 passes for 76 yards.
