UVa received a commitment from 2-guard Mamadi Diane following his official visit last weekend. Tilton (NH) star PF/C Alfred Aboya was in Charlottesville for an official visit last weekend as well, but, despite a good visit, the 6-9, 240-pound prospect is not ready to make a decision.
“He said it went real well,” Tilton Head Coach Scott Willard said. “He enjoyed meeting the team and he especially enjoyed attending all of the classes – he said that was the highlight of the visit. It was like a family. He said everyone was very kind. Everyone he met knew his name and was nice. He was very impressed.”
Aboya plans on making 2 more official visits before announcing his decision. He goes to UCLA on the weekend of October 1st and Georgetown on the weekend of October 15th. Georgetown was the school Aboya originally committed, but he reopened his recruiting process after Georgetown made a coaching change.
“He’s going to take all of his visits,” Willard said. “He has 2 more visits scheduled. Then he’ll probably make a decision.”
According to Coach Willard, Aboya will try to keep an open mind through all 3 visits. Following the 3rd visit, he plans to sit down and decide among the 3.
Aboya is rated as a 4-star prospect by TheInsiders.com and a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com. He averaged around 20 points and over 10 rebounds per game last season as a junior.
