St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, NJ) running back/linebacker Rashawn Jackson has visited Rutgers University more than any other program among his list of top schools. While this presents an edge to the Scarlet Knights in the early going, Jackson acknowledges that there are many more schools to see.

“I do like Rutgers, but they don’t have the lead,” Jackson said. “I haven’t seen other schools as much as I’ve seen them. Rutgers and Virginia are my top 2, but the others are right there. I still haven’t seen Florida, Nebraska or Notre Dame.”

Jackson will get a chance to see Nebraska later this year, when he takes an official visit to Lincoln.

“I’ve set one official visit – to Nebraska on December 11th,” Jackson said.

The 6-1, 253-pound back would like to check out all options before announcing a decision. In addition to the 5 schools mentioned above, he is also seriously considering Miami (Fl) and Ohio State.

“I do,” Jackson replied, asked if he wants to take all 5 official visits. “I’d rather take all of my visits and then commit. Right now, I want to visit Rutgers, Virginia, Notre Dame, Florida and Nebraska.”

At this point, Rutgers and Virginia are the only schools Jackson has seen up close. But there are other reasons as to why he named these programs as his top 2.

“They are my top 2 because, first of all, I’ve always liked UVa,” Jackson said. “I remember telling Leo Ferrine, my teammate from last year, to go to Virginia. For Rutgers, I felt the connection with the coaching staff. We have good chemistry and I trust them. UVa is the same way too.”

Jackson has spoken with several UVa coaches this month.

“I’ve talked to Coach Prince, Coach Dex and Coach D’Onofrio,” Jackson said. “They were just telling me how the team was doing, wishing me luck on my season and things like that. Mainly just general stuff.”

And he could take in an unofficial visit in Charlottesville next weekend. He may also visit Penn State for a game, although Jackson didn’t mention Penn State as one of his top schools under consideration.

“I plan on going to the Syracuse/UVa game,” Jackson said. “I’m going to try to make it. If I can get transportation down, then I’ll be all set. I’m also going to try and go to the Penn State/Iowa game and a Rutgers game, though I’m not sure when I’d go to Rutgers.”
