Virginia Tech has landed a huge commitment from this weekend’s official visits. Today, Phoebus running back Elan Lewis verbally committed to the Hokies.

Lewis, who is one of the top running backs in the nation and rated the #2 prospect in the state of Virginia, chose Tech over UVa, Maryland, Tennessee and N.C. State among others.

“He committed to Virginia Tech this weekend,” Phoebus Head Coach Bill Dee said. “For whichever school he was going to go to, I told him to commit when he was comfortable. He’s been to Virginia Tech a couple of times. I think he felt comfortable there before and felt comfortable enough to commit.”

Lewis becomes the 10th player to commit to Tech in the 2005 recruiting class. A 4-star prospect, he gives Tech another highly rated prospect in the offensive backfield.

“I think he’ll compete for playing time next year,” Dee said. “He’s just a great, great player.”
