Phoebus star defensive end Steven Friday just returned home from his visit to Virginia Tech. While he didn’t commit, the visit sounds like it was a success.
“I loved it,” Friday said. “Everything was organized and it was great. The game was good.”
And the highlight of the visit?
“The highlight was chilling with the players,” Friday said. He was hosted by Xavier Adibi and D.J. Parker. “All of them are real cool. I felt real comfortable around them. You could say that it was a family-type atmosphere.”
Following the visit, Virginia Tech appears to be in great position for one of the state’s top defenders.
“They are probably #1,” Friday said of the Hokies. “I like the coaches. The coaching staff are great guys, period. They are straightforward. They don’t throw any gimmicks at you.”
When asked if he was considering making a decision soon, Friday said “no, not yet.” He may take a few more official visits before that time comes.
“I’m trying to get to some other places,” Friday said. “N.C. State and Syracuse are 2 schools I might visit. Other official visits would probably have to be after the season. This weekend was our only bye weekend.”
In addition to Tech, N.C. State and Syracuse, Friday has been offered by UVa, UNC, Maryland and East Carolina. A 6-5, 220-pound defensive end who has the athleticism to play linebacker, Friday is being recruited by Tech as a defensive end.
