Red Bank Regional (Red Bank, NJ) defensive tackle Kade Weston has been declaring himself wide open for most of the summer. Well, not much has changed in the respect that he has not narrowed his list. What has changed is that two schools have gotten his attention this summer and both will make Weston’s list of 8 next month.
“There are 2 schools I like and they are Florida and Georgia,” Weston said. “I went down to Georgia for a one-day camp and I loved it down there. The people are nice. It’s a real nice place and they love football down there. I haven’t had a chance to visit Florida, but I’ve talked to Coach Locksley and he said how much they need me on defense. I like the Florida defense.
“I’m wide open after that. Next month I’m going to narrow my list of schools down to 8.”
Florida and Georgia will almost certainly get two of Weston’s 5 official visits. He wants to make all 5 official visits before announcing a decision.
“I do want to take all 5,” Weston said. “I’m going to take official visits to Georgia and Florida. I’ll decide on the others by next month.”
Weston would not give any hints as to what other schools could make his top 8 list. Virginia and Virginia Tech both appear to be on the outside looking in right now.
“Virginia not too much and Virginia Tech not too much,” Weston replied when asked if those two schools were still under consideration. “They aren’t out of it, but those two are on the border. They are still recruiting me hard and it’s not one particular thing about them. I just want to go to a different area.”
Weston wants to have a top 8 by the time his senior year begins. Right now, it looks like both Virginia and Virginia Tech are not likely to be on it.
