Paterson Catholic (Paterson, NJ) safety prospect Kitt Pommells had spoken about attending the University of Virginia’s summer camp this past weekend. He instead decided to attend camp at the University of Connecticut but still plans on visiting UVa later this summer.
“I didn’t go,” Pommells said when asked if he visited UVa this past weekend. He has already visited UVa once before for the Spring game. “I’m still planning on going back [this summer]. I’m going to go down there for an unofficial visit. I’m not sure at this moment when I will go.”
Pommells has drawn 12 scholarship offers, including UVa, Syracuse, Pitt, Boston College, Iowa, and Rutgers among others. He is awaiting an official offer from Miami (FL) as well. In terms of favorite schools, Pommells continues to list UVa at the top of his list.
“UVa, Syracuse, and probably now Connecticut [are my favorite schools],” Pommells said. “UVa is my number one school. I like the coaching staff. I like everything they do. I like the way they offered me and recruit me hard. I get a lot of handwritten letters, and they are consistent. One day I had like five handwritten letters from them. Another thing is the school history. The school has a great history of academics.”
Syracuse is a team that has been mentioned at the top of his list as well over the past few updates. Pommells says he likes Syracuse because “I like how the coaching staff wants to make sure you graduate on time. They care more about school than they do football.”
While Pommells is unsure of when he will make another visit to UVa, he does want to make one with his parents this summer. A decision could come before the start of his senior season.
“I want to make my decision early, before the start of my senior season,” Pommells said.
