For St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, NJ) star Mike Brown , his visit to the Charlottesville this past Saturday for Junior Day was his first ever trip to the University of Virginia. Brown enjoyed his experience, which appears to have solidified UVa as a serious player on his list.

“The visit really confirmed how great a school it is,” Brown said of UVa. “The coaches did an unbelievable job. They did a lot of personal stuff to show they were interested in just you. There weren’t too many recruits there and they said it was for elite prospects. They made you feel that way. The whole experience was good…it went well. I had been to Maryland for a Junior Day and Syracuse and Penn State before, and it wasn’t set up quite like this.”

One of the “personal” touches the UVa staff prepared was to have jerseys made up with the names of the prospects on them. It certainly stood out to Brown.

“One personal touch that stood out for me was when we went into the locker room and they had our names and numbers on jerseys,” Brown said. “It was a great feeling I hadn’t experienced yet.”

One of the top cornerbacks in the East, Brown has received over 20 scholarship offers. He plans on narrowing his list of schools to six or eight before July 1st. Though he didn’t list any favorites, Brown did mention at least five schools who will make the July 1st list.

“No, I don’t really have any favorites right now, so I’ll just give it to the few schools who have been recruiting me a lot harder than the rest…UVa and Rutgers,” Brown said. “I’m going to be coming up with a list of six to eight schools before July 1st. I can give you a solid five right now…Rutgers, Virginia, Miami, Tennessee, and Notre Dame.”

Tennessee, Notre Dame, and South Carolina are the three most recent schools to extend scholarship offers. Brown would like to visit the Vols and Irish this summer. If he can’t find the time, he will likely make official visits to those two schools.

“I plan on visiting Tennessee,” Brown said. “If not this summer, then I’ll probably make an official visit there. I’ll do the same with Notre Dame. I’m not sure about South Carolina.”

Brown plans on visiting the University of Miami this July. He has not yet received an official
