There could be another top sleeper prospect for Eleanor Roosevelt High School (Greenbelt, MD). Last season it was Theirrien “Bud” Davis, who signed with UVa. This season, it may be Will Davis .
Davis, a 6-3, 215 pound athlete, played wide receiver for ERHS. He made eight receptions for 160 yards in a option-oriented offense.
“Will played wide receiver for us last year,” ERHS Head Coach Rick Houchens said. “Next year we’ll probably move him to tight end on offense and put his hand down on defense. He’ll be a great defensive end because he has such quickness. He runs a lot like [Maryland signee] Trey Covington from last year.”
Davis shows excellent athleticism for his size. He posted a 4.51 time (in cleats) in the 40 yard dash, benched 185 pounds 22 times, and ran a 4.22 shuttle during the Penn State Nike Camp last month. He also possesses a 36 inch vertical according to Coach Houchens.
“I really think Will could be one of the biggest surprises next year,” Houchens said. “He’s 6-3, 215 pounds, an excellent athlete, and he has the frame to get up to 235 or 240 pounds easily. He could play a lot of different positions on the next level.
“Will already has an offer from Kent State, and I think there are about six or seven schools on the verge. Virginia is looking at him. Mike London told me he was highly impressed with him. Maryland, Boston College, Syracuse, and Marshall are also looking at him right now.”
Davis has already sent in the money to camp at UVa, Maryland, and Boston College. Coach Houchens indicated he may attend camp at Syracuse as well and will take an unofficial visit to Kent State soon. Do not be surprised if more schools offer this outstanding athlete this summer.
