Dorcelus to Camp at UVa

One of the top combine/camps this Spring was the Elite Combine held at Giants Stadium last month. One of the top wide receiver performers during the event was Irvington (NJ) Todd Dorcelus , a 6-2, 185 pound receiver who transferred from Plantation, Florida, before his sophomore season.

“The Elite combine was fun,” Dorcelus said. “I felt pretty good on that day and I played well. I ran a 4.5 in the 40. In the long jump, I basically cleared the whole mat. I’m not sure how many inches that was but it was long. In the shuttle, I ran a 4.2. I went against some good cornerbacks, but I had to bring it. The young guy, [The Hun School (Princeton, NJ) standout sophomore] Myron Rolle, was pretty good. He tried to stop me, but I had to do it. I had to come earn my paycheck on that day, and I think I did that.”

Dorcelus averages around a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash according to Irvington Head Coach Darnell Grant. An excellent possession receiver with big play ability, Dorcelus is hoping to improve his speed and explosion for his senior season. As a junior, he made 42 receptions for 822 yards and five touchdowns.

“The number one thing me and my wide receiver coach are working on is yards after the catch,” Dorcelus said. “My coach wants me to be more explosive, so that’s a goal of mine. I want to get my speed down to 4.4, and that’s another goal. In terms of personal stats, I don’t have any goals. I just want to win the state championship…that would be nice. Last year we went to the playoffs for the first time since 1976. We lost in the first round, but we’re only losing five starters and I think we’ll be able to learn from our experience.”
