Last weekend, Virginia Tech received a verbal commitment from one of DeMatha Catholic’s top 2005 prospects in fullback Kenneth Jefferson. Yesterday, the Hokies added another 2005 standout from DeMatha in 6-4, 300 pound offensive lineman Robert Norris.
“Robert called me last night around seven o’clock and told me he was going to commit to Virginia Tech,” DeMatha Head Coach Bill McGregor said. “He’s committed to Tech. He visited there yesterday and said everything was perfect. Everything was how he wanted it to be.”
Norris, who plays offensive tackle, had also received official scholarship offers from Maryland and Syracuse. Very strong, he can bench press 315 pounds four times. Norris’ strength and footwork are his top qualities according to McGregor.
“Robert is an excellent offensive tackle,” McGregor said in an interview earlier this year. “He has good feet, and he’s strong.”
Norris becomes the third prospect to commit to Virginia Tech in the past week, joining Jefferson and Kellam High School (Virginia Beach, VA) standout linebacker Demetrius Taylor.
