Westfield (DC) wide receiver Eddie Royal returned from his official visit to Marshall this weekend, and it appears the Thundering Herd made a significant impression on him. Royal, who originally wanted to announce his decision tomorrow, may now wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to make his announcement.
“I still could announce tomorrow, but I probably won’t,” Royal said. “I just saw some things at Marshall that I really liked, so I have to go back and do a lot of thinking. I liked my official visit a lot. The coaches treated us well, and I had a chance to see on film what I would be doing. I liked how they would use me. I also spent a lot of time with my brother, and the thought of playing with him kept crossing my mind.”
Royal indicated he will still hold a press conference to announce his decision, however does not know the date and time. He may decide when he will announce as early as this evening, as he hopes to talk to his coach, Tom Verbanic, today.
Even though Marshall is making a big push with an excellent official visit, Royal still claims no leaders among his three finalists.
“It’s still even among the three,” Royal said. Virginia Tech and UVa are his other two finalists. “I have a lot of thinking to do about my decision.”
