Westfield (Chantilly, VA) wide receiver Eddie Royal will announce his decision on Monday, February 2nd during a press conference at his school. He is not positive what time the press conference will take place, however feels it will likely be around noon.

“I’m probably going to have a press conference around noon, but I’m not really sure of the time yet,” Royal said. “I’m not going to tell anybody before I make my decision. It’s going to be a surprise.”

Royal will make an official visit to Marshall this weekend. He leaves today and will return on Sunday. He plans on using Sunday night to figure out his choice.

“Sunday night, I’m just going to sit by myself and decide on my own,” Royal said. “I’m going to make a list of pros and cons about each school, and whoever wins out is the school I’ll pick. It’s going to be a tough decision. They are all pretty much the same right now.”

Earlier this week, Royal hosted the University of Virginia for an in-home visit. Virginia Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer and Marshall Head Coach Bob Pruett had already made their in-home visits to the Royals before this week, so UVa Head Coach Al Groh had his chance to make a final impression.

“It was all right,” Royal said about the UVa in-home visit. “They had some good points about academics and about football. Football-wise, they told me I could come in and play early. UVa has been the most detailed school in terms of having a plan for me, so that’s pretty neat. Marshall has told me I could fill the spot left by Darius Watts. Virginia Tech has told me that they didn’t have a guy with my capabilities last year, and that they really need someone like me.”

Before he makes his final official visit, Royal provided several positives on each of his final three schools.

“For Virginia, location is a plus,” Royal said. “I like the coaching staff a lot, and on the visit the players that I met I got along with really well. They are also a team on the rise.

“For Virginia Tech, I really like the coaching staff a whole lot. They are real down-to-earth. My sister is there also, so I’d have someone to talk to. That might play a factor, but I’m not sure yet. I like that the QB situation is deep, and they need wide receivers.

“For Marshall, my brother goes there. I like their offense a lot. Coach Pruett is a really good coach, and they have a winning tradition.”
