UVa targeted several top players from the Chicago (IL) area for this recruiting class, and it looks like the hard work has paid off. Talented Hubbard High School defensive back Nate Lyles has committed to Virginia.
“He’s going to UVA,” Hubbard Head Coach Elton Harris said. “I know when we met with the coaches, he really liked the scheme that they were running. Corwin Brown was the recruiting coach, and he’s from Chicago so I think Nate got along with him. He just said that it was a good fit for him.”
Lyles, who is 6-1, 195 pounds, has the ability to play cornerback or safety on the next level. As a senior, he averaged nine tackles and had eight interceptions from the safety position. An excellent student who hopes to major in Psychology, he carries a 3.75 grade point average and scored a 26 on the ACT.
Lyles becomes UVa’s 16th verbal commitment for the 2004 class. He is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and a four-star by Insiders.com.
