Westfield (Chantilly, VA) star Eddie Royal returned today from his official visit to Virginia Tech. Royal enjoyed his visit this weekend but did not commit to the Hokies and plans on making his official visit to Marshall next weekend before announcing a decision.

“It was pretty good,” Royal said of his Tech visit. “I had a lot of fun. Everyone was fun and upbeat, and there was a lot of energy there. You can tell everybody cared about one another. If you saw one football player, you knew the rest wouldn’t be far behind. That was pretty neat, and I liked that.”

The 5-10, 170 pound wide receiver was hosted by red-shirt freshman quarterback Marcus Vick. He had met Vick once previously, but never had the chance to get to know him before this weekend.

“I had met him at a practice, but I haven’t talked to him since,” Royal said. “He’s a real cool guy. He’s actually a pretty laid back guy…real down to earth. Everybody was laid back there. There wasn’t a lot of drama, which was good.”

Royal made his official visit to UVA last weekend, and says both of those visits were equal.

“Right now, just coming off the visit, I would say they were the same,” Royal said. “They were equal visits. I’ll probably need a couple of days to let this one settle in, and then I’ll be able to really compare both of them.”

Heading into this weekend, Royal had said he had no favorites among Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Marshall. Nothing appears to have changed.

“Honestly, I really don’t have a leader right now,” Royal said. “Both UVA and Virginia Tech are even, and I still have Marshall coming up. Right now, I’m not leaning anywhere.”

Although Marshall will be a factor, there is a possibility Royal’s decision may come down to Virginia and Virginia Tech. He was asked questions relative to each in-state program, and these were his comments…

On how he felt about the students and players on each campus…

“The people were cool at both places,” Royal said. “There wasn’t much difference between the two. The only difference I’d say was that my sister is at Virginia Tech, but that’s not like a huge factor in my decision. I’d say the people at both places were equal.”

Does he have any concerns about each program’s offense?…

“I had some concerns earlier about each, but now I know that they both have good coaches who will do whatever it takes to win,” Royal said. “That’s all I really
