Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) prospect Purnell Sturdivant had planned on making an official visit to NC State sometime during the month of January. The visit appears unlikely at this point, meaning Sturdivant would only make one official visit…to Virginia Tech this weekend.
“I don’t think I’m going to go [to NC State],” Sturdivant said. “Some things happened and my coach wasn’t able to schedule the visit. I’m not worried about it though, since I’ve visited there twice unofficially. I feel like I know enough about the school to compare.
“I’m still going to Virginia Tech this weekend, and I think that will be the only official visit I have time for.”
Nothing has changed in terms of which school Sturdivant favors, however he is unsure of when he will announce his final decision.
“Virginia Tech is still the leader,” Sturdivant said. “I’m not sure when I’ll make my decision though. I haven’t decided.”
Coach Frank Beamer will make an in-school visit to Lake Taylor tomorrow, and that is the only in-home or in-school visit scheduled for Purnell this week. The Hokies are recruiting him as an athlete, primarily for the rover or safety positions.
