Mayo Talks Recruiting

Kecoughtan (Hampton, VA) linebacker Jerod Mayo ’s fourth official visit will be to the University of Tennessee, which takes place this upcoming weekend. He has never visited Tennessee before, but has certainly heard nothing but positives from others.

“I’m going to go visit Tennessee this weekend,” Mayo said. “I hear it’s a good visit, so I’ll see what that’s all about. I heard they have a nice stadium and a nice campus, and of course they have a great football tradition.”

Tennessee is very much in the hunt for Mayo, and could really become a factor depending on how his official visit goes. Currently, four of his final five schools are even and have an equal shot at landing the athletic and versatile 6-2, 215 pound linebacker. Purdue is the lone school on the outside, but Mayo admits that is only because of location.

“I don’t have any favorites,” Mayo said. “I actually might have liked Purdue the best, but the location is just not the greatest for me. I’m even between the other four right now. I’ve already looked at each school’s defensive scheme, so basically now it’s just figuring out the place where I’d fit in the best. I feel like I could do really well in any scheme, so that won’t matter.”
