Hollywood Christian (Hollywood, FL) offensive lineman Dio Herrera made his first official visit this past weekend, heading to Mississippi State. The 6-3, 305 pound prospect was greeted on Friday by new Head Coach Sylvester Croom, the now former Green Bay Packers running backs coach who recently accepted the position.
“I met Coach Croom on Friday when I got there,” Herrera said. “He was a pretty impressive person. I had a good time on the visit, just like the other recruits. Overall, it was pretty fun. The highlight was the announcements for us in the stadium.”
Herrera enjoyed his visit to Mississippi State, but remains dedicated to making at least four official visits before announcing his decision. He visits South Florida this weekend, Rutgers on the 23rd, and finishes with Virginia Tech on the 30th of January.
“Of course Mississippi State was my first visit, so I feel good about it right now,” Herrera said. “But I still want to see the other schools. I can’t really say which school is my favorite since I haven’t seen them all.”
With the contact period just beginning yesterday, many schools will be making in-home visits with recruits over the next few weeks. This week, Dio expects Mississippi State tonight and Virginia Tech tomorrow night for in-homes.
