Forest Hills (Marshville, NC) blue-chip prospect Marque Hall made his first official visit this weekend, as he traveled to the University of South Carolina. The mammoth 6-5, 305 pound defensive tackle/offensive tackle prospect appeared to have a good time on his visit to Columbia.
“It was fun for the most part,” Hall said. “My favorite part was hanging out with the players. I spent the most time with my host…his name was [junior defensive lineman] Darrell Shropshire. He answered a lot of my questions and we got along really well. They seem like a really close team with a family atmosphere down there.”
Hall met with Coach Lou Holtz on several occasions throughout his visit. The Gamecocks are recruiting him to play defensive tackle.
“Me and Coach Holtz talked a whole bunch of times,” Hall said. “He talked about how bad they want me and that I could play early.”
Even though he had a good time in Columbia this weekend, do not expect any decision soon from the talented tackle prospect. Hall has four remaining visits and plans on making them all.
“I still plan on making the rest of my visits,” Hall said. “I’m going to UNC and NC State next weekend, so we’ll see how that goes. I don’t have any favorites right now. I’m ready to take the rest of my visits, and I’m ready to get the process over with.”
Following the two North Carolina programs next weekend, Hall will go to Tennessee on January 24th and Virginia Tech on January 31st. Of the Hokies, Hall stated that he “likes the coaches and the records they have had over the past few years. I’ve heard it’s a good place so I want to see it for myself.”
Other schools, including Virginia and Maryland, may be slightly in the picture but are long shots at this point. Hall is considering making unofficial trips to each for a basketball game, however has not decided whether or not that will happen.
“I’m not yet sure if I’m going to visit any more schools,” Hall said. “It’ll be a last-second decision if I take those.”
