JH Rose (Greenville, NC) running back Andre Brown , who is one of the top running backs in the country following a spectacular senior season, has set a date when he will announce his collegiate decision.

“I’m going to announce on January 21st,” Brown said. “I’m announcing on the Countdown to Signing Day show.”

Brown’s final two schools are Virginia and NC State. He has made an official visit to Virginia, and will make his official visit to NC State this weekend. Right now, the Cavaliers have the slight edge heading into the weekend.

“UVA is still ahead,” Brown said. “I felt comfortable there and really liked it, but that is the only place I’ve been to for an official visit. I’m not going to be able to fully compare each school until I take my NC State visit.”

Brown has visited NC State unofficially, and came away impressed with the newly-built football facilities.

“When I went there, I was very impressed with the facilities there,” Brown said. “It’s like a whole new campus…you could live there (laughs). They have everything you could ever want football-wise, and they have other things like pool tables and other games.”

Accompanying Brown on his official visit will be his two cousins who he stays with in Greenville. He had hoped his mother would be able to make the trip, however she cannot. UVA is her favorite school, and Andre was hoping she could make this weekend’s trip to be able to compare the schools.

“I’m kind of mad that my Mom can’t come this weekend,” Brown said. “She went with me on my visit to Virginia. She loves Virginia, and that’s the school that’s in her head. She’s going to help out with my decision and I wanted her to come this weekend so we could both have seen each school.”

Brown feels UVA and NC State are equal in many areas, and his decision will likely come down to a gut feeling.

“When I come back from the visit, I’m going to have to ponder a little bit,” Brown said. “Both of my recruiting coaches are down-to-earth and both programs are equal, so I’m just going to have to go with my gut. I’m going to go with where I feel most comfortable. I’m really going to have to think hard before the announcement date. It’s going to be a tough decision, and I’m kind of mad at myself for setting a time limit for myself.”
