Cherryville (NC) wide receiver Kenneth Harris will take his first official visit this weekend, when he goes to the University of Georgia. He has set his second official visit for next weekend to NC State, and has tentatively set up an official visit to Virginia for January 24th.
“I go to Georgia this weekend, NC State next weekend, and Virginia is the following weekend I think,” Harris said. “I talked to Coach [Mike] Groh recently about a visit date, and we talked about the 24th. It’s not finalized, but it’s more than likely going to happen.”
Harris has made unofficial visits to both Georgia and NC State before, and came away very impressed with both programs. Though Harris indicated he does not have a leader at this time, those two programs have made very good first impressions.
“No, I don’t really have any favorites,” Harris said. “I’m trying to keep an open mind heading into my official visits.”
The Cavaliers are hoping to finalize the visit with Harris soon. The talented wide receiver indicated he was very interested in seeing what UVA has to offer, however did not know if he would make all of his official visits or if he would decide immediately if the situation felt right.
“That’s a decision I have to make on a visit-to-visit basis,” Harris said when asked if he would decide early or make all of his visits. “Right now, I am interested in visiting Virginia. I like the coaches a lot, so I want to go up and see everything…to see if it’s something I like.”
The 6-4, 185 pound Harris is a dual-sport star for Cherryville, as he excels in both football and basketball. As a point guard for the basketball team, he is averaging 17 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds per game in leading Cherryville to a 14-0 record. He indicated all of the schools recruiting him say he could play basketball as well.
