Andrew Bowman will make his fifth and final official visit next weekend when travels to UNC. The 6-1, 230 pound Hermitage High School middle linebacker is anxious to make that visit and make his collegiate decision.
“My last visit is to UNC next week,” Bowman said. “Maybe I’ll be ready to decide right after my visit…I’m not sure. Right now, I’m taking my time with everything. I am ready to start making my decision though.”
The finalists for Bowman include Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Purdue, and UNC. Of the five, Purdue and UNC appear to be on the the longer shots right now.
“UNC has a little bit of catching up to do,” Bowman said. “But I’m still interested in them. Purdue is just different from the rest of the places. It would be a hard adjustment I think.”
Both Virginia and Virginia Tech are very much in the running at this point, though it is difficult to tell if Bowman favors one over the other. Playing in-state is one positive each has over Tennessee, UNC, and Purdue.
“The main positives are probably that I would be able to be a part of good programs that are close to home,” Bowman said. “I don’t know, I could really see myself at either. I’m just looking forward to making my decision.”
Bowman indicated his parents will have some influence in his decision, however the final choice will be his.
“It’s mainly going to be me,” Bowman said of how he’ll make his decision. “My parents will have some input, but it’s going to be up to me where I go. It’s going to be kind of hard for me to make it…it’ll be tough.”
Bowman earned first-team All-Metro honors from the Richmond Times-Dispatch for his senior year performance. He will participate in track, specifically the Discuss and the 100 meter events, in the Spring.
