West Charlotte (NC) cornerback Rod Council has set what will likely be his final official visit. According to West Charlotte Head Coach Pete Gilchrist, Rod will go to Virginia Tech this Thursday.
“He’s going Thursday, staying the day and talking with them, and I think he’s coming back on Friday,” Gilchrist said. “He has a basketball game on Friday night so he’s trying to squeeze it in.”
Coach Gilchrist is not sure when the decision will be announced.
“After his visit, we’ll all sit down and see about a decision,” Gilchrist said. “The date he was originally shooting for was the 20th [of December], but I’m not sure if he still wants to do that. He may make his choice this weekend, and then we could announce it next weekend. If he is going to announce it at a press conference, I think he would wait until after the Shrine Bowl (which takes place on December 20th).”
It appears nothing has changed since last week, when Coach Gilchrist stated the decision will likely come down to Virginia and Virginia Tech.
“I’m pretty sure he’ll decide between Virginia and Virginia Tech,” Gilchrist said. “Tennessee called today and I told them I didn’t want to waste their time because I think he’s pretty set on Virginia and Virginia Tech. I still think he will choose between those two unless he surprises us all.”
Both schools are recruiting Council as a cornerback. He made an official visit to Virginia on the weekend of October 18th.
