Deptford (NJ) fullback/linebacker Mike Green has set up his first official visit. He will go to Virginia Tech on the weekend of December 12th.
Green says he will definitely make an official visit to Maryland as well, with Miami, Virginia, and Indiana in the running for other visits if he takes them. The Hokies remain his favorite school.
“I set my first visit, to Virginia Tech on December 12th,” said Green. “I’m also going to Maryland. It depends on how those first two visits go, but I might take three or four visits. I’m considering Miami, Virginia, and Indiana for those.
“Virginia Tech is still my leader.”
Of the schools Green is considering, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Indiana have extended written offers. Miami and Virginia are actively recruiting him. All of the programs like Green as a jumbo athlete with the ability to play either linebacker or fullback.
Green has led Deptford to a 9-0 record, including a 27-0 opening round victory over Kingsway in the Group 3 playoffs. Ranked number one, Deptford faces Toms River South in the second round this Saturday.
“I’m ready,” said Green. “I can’t wait to play. I have seen two games of theirs already, and they have a good running back and two receivers who have over 1,000 yards receiving or something. They are supposedly bringing 880 fans down with them. We’re ready. We have six good running backs – two fullbacks and four tailbacks. When the fourth quarter hits, we can put in the fourth guy and keep those fresh legs in.”
The 6-1, 235 pound Green has really come into his own this senior season. Through hard work during the off-season, he has shortened his 40-time to 4.6 from 4.7 previously. He has become one of South Jersey’s best two-way players over the past two years.
