One of Georgia’s fastest rising prospects, Lovejoy High School (GA) defensive end Jeremy Lomax made an official visit to Virginia this past weekend. It was the first official visit for the 6-5, 220 pound prospect.

His first visit measured up to all of his expectations.

““It was well done up there,” said Lomax of his visit. He was hosted by freshman linebacker Vince Redd. “It exceeded my expectations. The coaching staff, the players, everyone is great. The campus is real nice too.”

Virginia’s coaching staff, led by Lomax’s primary recruiter Mike London, is a big reason the Cavaliers are in contention. Their up-and-coming program is another.

“The coaching staff is just really nice,” said Lomax. “Virginia is a really young team and they stick it to their opponents. They are successful right now with freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, so in two years, I think they’ll be a powerhouse.”

Virginia is up near the top on Lomax’s favorite-school list.

“Virginia is high on my list…they are in my top five,” said Lomax. “Louisville is up there too, along with Georgia, Tennessee, and maybe either Indiana or Cincinnati. I have offers from East Carolina, Indiana, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Louisville, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia I think.”

Louisville is set to receive Lomax’s next official visit. Georgia and Tennessee look like they will fill two other official visit slots.

“I have set up an official visit to Louisville for December 12th,” said Lomax. “I have one to Indiana for December 6th, but I don’t think I’ll take that one. I’ve taken an unofficial to Georgia. I’m thinking about taking an official there [on January 9th] but I need to clarify my offer with them. I want to make sure I have an offer before I visit. Tennessee penciled me in for January 16th, but I need to confirm that.”

He wants to make all of his official visits before making a decision, however did not rule out the possibility of an early commitment if the perfect situation arises.

“If I absolutely loved a place on my visit, I might commit then, but I’ll probably know when I finish my official visits,” said Lomax. “I want to take all five of my visits.”

Sounds like Lomax really enjoyed his visit to Charlottesville. The Cavaliers are very much in contention at this point, however he still wants to make other trips.
