This weekend was Marquise Liverpool ‘s first visit to the University of Virginia, and he enjoyed his experience.
“I liked it,” said Liverpool of his visit. “We just went down for the game. It was my first time there – I’ve been down to Virginia but I have never been to the school. The campus is huge. Everything was nice. It was a good game…Virginia should have won but it was still good.”
Liverpool, a top wide receiver/cornerback prospect from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, is being recruited by Virginia’s Al Golden. He had another chance to speak to the coaches after the game.
“I did speak to the coaches,” said Liverpool. “I really like the coaching staff. Coach Golden is a great coach.”
Virginia’s coaching staff is the primary reason the Cavaliers are one of the main contenders for Liverpool. Marquise is also considering Boston College, Iowa, Southern California, Tennessee, and Rutgers.
He has narrowed down his list but did not want to mention which teams are at the top.
“I have narrowed down my list but I’m not going to release it yet,” said Liverpool. “I’m considering Virginia, Boston College, Iowa, Southern California, Tennessee, and Rutgers. I haven’t set up any official visits yet. I will take an official visit to Virginia.”
Liverpool has scholarship offers from all of the schools he is considering. A dual-sport star, he will play both football and baseball in college.
Liverpool Likes Virginia’s Recruiting Methods
For the most part, each school has been pretty similar in their approach to Marquise. There is one thing that stands out about Virginia.
“Virginia’s coaches are different from the other schools,” said Liverpool. “They do not down any other schools. They just concentrate on their school and I like that.”
