Conestoga Valley (PA) quarterback Jordan Steffy has set one official visit, and the school receiving it may surprise you. Steffy, who is one of the top quarterbacks in the East, will visit Purdue on October 11th.
Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Maryland remain Steffy’s top three schools.
“Purdue was one of the first schools to offer me,” said Steffy. “They offered at the end of my sophomore season. I made it clear to them that my top three was Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Maryland, but they asked that I just give them a chance. So I said ‘OK.’”
Virginia Tech and Michigan State will definitely receive official visits as well. Maryland may not, but that is not because the Terrapins have fallen from the top.
“Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Michigan State are still my top three,” said Steffy. “None of those schools are ahead of the other. I am going to visit Virginia Tech sometime in November and I will visit Michigan State – I’m not sure of the dates yet though. I’m not sure about Maryland. I’ve been there so much that I think I may know all there is to know. I will use my visits on schools I don’t know so much about. I’ve been there about six or seven times.”
Steffy hopes to decide during the Fall. Once he is through with his official visits, he will sit down and weigh the positives of each school and hopefully make a decision.
“I think that, right now, there are things about each of my top schools that I really like,” said Steffy. “Michigan State has the nicest facilities. Virginia Tech has the best quarterback coach. Maryland’s quarterback situation might be better and they are the closest to home. After I’m done visiting, I will sit down and think about what I want to be most important in my decision. I will think which positives outweigh the others.”
The Hokies have received a commitment from quarterback Sean Glennon, who is one of the top players in the state of Virginia. Glennon’s commitment will not have any impact on Steffy’s decision.
“If a person chooses a school based on other guys decisions, then that person must not have much confidence in themselves to begin with,” said Steffy. “I’m not going to base my decision on what players a school signs. I feel that if Virginia Tech is right for me, I’ll sign there whether or not they sign anyone else or not.”
