JP Stevens (Edison, NJ) offensive tackle Jeremy Zuttah has been receiving a lot of attention this week. With offers from 13 schools, he has received many phone calls during the first week in which coaches can contact recruits.
Talking with coaches is an exciting experience for one of New Jersey’s best.
“It’s exciting to see who’s really interested in me,” said Zuttah, who has spoken with Virginia Tech but has not received any calls from Virginia. “As they call, you get to know your recruiting coaches more. Getting to know these recruiting coaches will be one factor in helping me narrow my list.”
Zuttah hopes to have his list narrowed by next month. He does not plan on attending any games, instead he will try and catch some of his favorites on television over the next few months.
“By October, I plan to have my list down to a solid five,” said Zuttah. “I’m still open right now. I don’t have anything planned as far as checking out games. I’ll just watch them on TV. I want to watch what kind of offense some of these teams run.”
An offensive tackle in high school, Zuttah says most schools are recruiting him as an offensive guard or a defensive tackle. Virginia Tech and Virginia both like him as an offensive guard. The Hokies look to be in better shape than the Cavaliers at this point in the process.
“Virginia Tech is probably somewhere near the top, but Virginia might be down the list a little bit,” said Zuttah. “I don’t have a specific reason…I just don’t feel like Virginia may be the place for me.”
In addition to the Hokies and Cavaliers, Zuttah has received offers from Clemson, Iowa, Maryland, UNC, NC State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Rutgers, Syracuse, South Carolina, and Northwestern. Stay tuned over the next month to see which schools make Jeremy’s top five list.
