Lynchburg Christian Academy tailback/linebacker Rashad Jennings made his late last night, choosing the Pittsburgh Panthers over Virginia Tech. For Jennings, it was a very tough decision to make.
“It was a very tough decision,” said Jennings. “The [Virginia] Tech staff is wonderful. They did a great job. I really like coach Beamer and everyone there.”
In the end, his decision came down to an opportunity to fulfill a dream.
“When I spoke to coach Beamer and coach Rogers last weekend, they told me they were recruiting me as a linebacker,” said Jennings. “I love playing linebacker and that’s great, but when I talked to coach [Walt] Harris, he told me they see me as a tailback. Playing running back in college is something I have always wanted to do. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to at least have a chance to fulfill my dream.
“Plus, I really like the coaching staff at Pitt. I love talking with Coach [Walt] Harris…we have connected since we first spoke.”
With the recruiting process over, Jennings is eager to concentrate on his academics as well as getting in shape for his first season at Pitt. He is very excited about his choice.
“I just can’t wait to get started,” said Jennings. “I will concentrate on getting my grades up and also becoming a better athlete.”
