When you speak of the top running backs in the state of North Carolina, JH Rose (Greenville, NC) standout Andre Brown is always one of those mentioned. The 6-1, 215 pound Brown is one of the more versatile tailbacks in the country.

It is his receiving skills coupled with natural running ability that makes him one of North Carolina’s elite.

“I would say my receiving ability separates me from other top backs,” said Brown. “Before my sophomore season, coach said he thought I would be better at tailback, so I moved there from wide receiver. It was easy because I like having the ball in my hands.

“This year, things have been so easy for me in practice. I’ve been studying a lot of film this summer, and I’ve gained a lot of experience playing running back. Everything’s really easy for me now – I just can’t wait to get out on the field.”

Brown claims offers from Miami (FL), LSU, Nebraska, Virginia, North Carolina and NC State among many others. Not bad considering he has only played tailback for three years including his upcoming senior season.

Though he admits his list changes quite frequently, he did list a current top five.

“I’m still pretty open, but my top five is Miami (FL), Virginia, NC State, Nebraska, and LSU,” said Brown, who is being recruited by Corwin Brown for the Cavaliers. “I have official offers from all of those schools. [Of my top five], I know I want to visit Miami (FL) and Nebraska. I don’t know about the others though. I haven’t decided.”

Brown hopes to take unofficial trips to all of the “close schools,” which would include the Carolina teams as well as Virginia. He has not set up any trips.

As a junior, Brown rushed for 2,295 yards and 17 touchdowns.
