One of the nation’s top prospects may be nearing a decision soon. Anthony Vernaglia , a 6-4, 220 pound athlete from Lutheran HS in Orange, California, will likely make a decision on or before September 13th according to his mother Betsy.
“He’s laying low right now so he can have a clear head,” said Betsy Vernaglia. “He’s getting closer to a decision. If not on September 13th, then sooner.”
According to Mrs. Vernaglia, Notre Dame, Virginia, USC, and Penn State all remain in the running.
Anthony is one of the most versatile prospects in the country. He could play wide receiver, tight end, linebacker, or even safety on the next level. The attention he has received has been a bit overwhelming, but exciting as well for the Vernaglia family.
“It’s hectic, but it’s very exciting at the same time,” said Mrs. Vernaglia. “Anthony has worked hard throughout high school so he can receive this kind of attention, so we just try to enjoy it.”
The Cavaliers, led by lead recruiter Al Golden, like Vernaglia as a wide receiver. As a junior, Vernaglia made 48 receptions for over 800 yards and scored 14 touchdowns on offense.
He is one of the top wide receiver prospects on Virginia’s board.
