Septemeber 1st is a day high school football players all around the country are no doubt looking forward to. It is the day when college coaches can resume phone calls to potential recruits.
Deptford (NJ) fullback/linebacker Michael Green is no different. He is looking forward to determining the schools that really want him to play for their University.
“I’m really excited,” said Green of the September 1st date. “I want to see which schools are really interested in me. After I figure that out, I’ll be able to determine which schools I want to visit.”
A versatile player who could play fullback or linebacker on the next level, Green has received six scholarship offers thus far – Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Temple, Indiana, Illinois, and Maryland.
Green likes around ten schools, however no school among the group really stands out.
“I like Maryland, Nebraska, Syracuse, Boston College, Illinois, Virginia Tech, UVA, Kentucky, Hofstra, and UNC,” said Green, who will take his official visits after his senior season. “All of them are in the mix. I’m considering everybody.”
Green expects more offers to come his way this fall. This summer, he has been working hard on improving his already impressive 4.7 40 speed.
Though the training was difficult at first, he has adjusted and feels very good right now.
“I have been running with weighted vests, dragging tires, and running up hills,” said Green. “It was definitely tough at the beginning, but the more you do something the easier it becomes. Now, when I run normally, I feel lighter than I’ve ever felt…like I’m flying.”
Green is eager to show off his new speed. This Friday, he will be tested for the first time since his training began.
