Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, AR) linebacker Matt Stoltz , who is one of the top prospects in the state, visited the University of Arkansas earlier this month on an unofficial visit. He seemed very impressed with Coach Houston Nutt and the Arkansas program in general.
The Razorbacks may be the team to beat right now.
“I guess you could say that they are my favorite right now,” said Stoltz. “I like them more at this point. I liked Fayetteville a lot on my visit. I like it more and more each time I go there. I had a real good talk with the coaching staff while I was up there.
“My top five are Arkansas, LSU, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Virginia. Things could change, but these are the five schools I plan on visiting right now. I plan on taking all five visits, but if everything clicks at a school I might only take one.”
The Cavaliers are still in this recruiting race, however Stoltz has been unable to visit Charlottesville this summer. Virginia is trying to get Stoltz to visit this fall, but no date has been set.
“UVA is talking about me coming down during the season,” said Stoltz. “Right now I plan on taking my visits after my season. I’m just not sure if there is enough time for me to make a complete official visit during the summer. We’ll see.”
Stoltz is focusing in the meantime on his senior season. Pulaski has installed a “Tampa Bay like” defense, which has Stoltz very excited.
“I will get to blitz a lot more this year,” said Stoltz. “More responsibility falls on me in this new system, and I like it. Basically, our line will hold up the offensive linemen so the linebacker can make plays. I’m ready for the season right now.”
