Northern Durham (Durham, NC) linebacker Chase Bullock plays physical and he plays fast. At 6-3 ½, 225 pounds, Bullock runs a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash. As a junior, he crushed opposing offenses to the tune of 127 tackles including 16 tackles-for-loss and three sacks.
He likens his on-the-field style to that of his favorite all-time player, Lawrence Taylor.
“I play real fast,” said Bullock. “I also really like to blitz. I try to play like LT, who I watch a whole lot of old film on. He is my favorite player.”
The talented Bullock has received five scholarship offers. Those schools include Virginia, Wake Forest, Maryland, Duke, and Marshall. Two of the schools stand out as favorites for Bullock, who will take some official visits before making a decision.
“Wake Forest and Virginia are my favorites,” said Bullock, who attended one-day camps at Wake Forest and UNC. “I know I’m going to officially visit both of those schools. At Wake Forest, I have two teammates that go there and I really like the coaches and the school.
“I’ve been to Virginia twice. One time was last year against North Carolina when they came back and won. I like the atmosphere and the fans. I like the big stadium. I really like the 3-4 defense. I think playing in that system would allow me to get on the field faster than anywhere else.”
The ACC expansion will certainly help both the Cavaliers and the Demon Deacons’ chances as well, as Bullock was very pleased to see the conference become one of the best in the country.
“I really liked that,” said Bullock of the expansion. “Every game is going to be exciting.”
Bullock is on track to qualify academically. He currently carries a 2.6 grade point average and scored a 960 on his first SAT try. He could play outside or inside linebacker on the next level.
