Roanoke (NC) cornerback Trimaine Goddard may be close to making his decision. He originally wanted to decide before the beginning of his senior season, and still hopes to do so.
A home-state school has recently vaulted to the top of his list along with UVA, Florida State, and Georgia. That team is North Carolina, who Goddard visited this past weekend. Goddard says the Tarheels and the Cavaliers are now at the top of his list.
“My UNC visit went real well,” said Goddard. “I went to meetings, highlight films, and met the head of Education. It was good.
“It’s real close between UVA and UNC. FSU and Georgia are right behind those two.”
If Goddard cannot make his decision by the end of summer vacation, he may take official visits to help him with the decision. He will not make a commitment unless he is absolutely comfortable of his choice.
“I’m going to talk with my mom over the next few weeks,” said Goddard. “When I’m 100% sure of where I want to go, I’ll decide. If I can’t decide before the start of the season, I will definitely take some official visits.”
UNC is recruiting Goddard as an athlete, while the Cavaliers like him as a cornerback/return man. He has no positional preference however, and indicated his decision will not come down to which position each school wants him to play.
“UNC is recruiting me as an athlete and Virginia wants me as a corner and return guy,” said Goddard. “It doesn’t matter to me where I play in college. I just want to play.”
The recruitment of one of the top prospects in the state of North Carolina may heat up over the next month or so. Goddard would be an excellent pickup for any program. He has offers from all of his four favorites as well as Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Colorado among others.
