One of the state of New Jersey’s top defensive end prospects is quickly rising on the recruiting charts. Plainfield’s (NJ) Dan Davis has been invited to Max Emfinger’s Iron Man competition, which features the top 250 offensive and defensive line prospects in the country according to Max Emfinger. He has also earned Prep Star Honorable Mention All-American honors.

In addition to these pre-season accolades, Davis earned one more scholarship offer since we last spoke. Virginia has become the third team to officially extend a scholarship offer.

“I now have offers from Nebraska, Rutgers, and Virginia,” said Davis. “Georgia, Maryland, and UConn are considering offering me as well. Now I just need to make the necessary academic requirements. All I have to do is take the SAT’s to be qualified.”

The Cavaliers extended their offer to Davis following their summer camp at the end of June. Davis enjoyed himself during the football camp, which was the first one he had ever attended.

“It was the first time I had ever been to football camp,” said Davis of his UVA experience. “The coaches took me on a tour. I guess they took all of their top prospects on a tour. I got to stay in a college dorm, and check out the facilities. I had a really good time down there.”

Following the Virginia summer camp, Davis attended the Rutgers camp. Both the Cavaliers and the Scarlet Knights remain in Davis’ top five list. He would like to officially visit all five favorites before making a final decision.

“Nebraska, Georgia, Virginia, Rutgers, and Maryland are my favorites,” said Davis. “I think I will officially visit these schools.

“Before I said to myself that I would make a decision early if I liked a school, but I think I will wait. Now I want to take all five official visits before making a decision. I don’t want to commit to a school and then decommit. It doesn’t show character and I don’t want to put a school through that. So I want to make sure I know where I want to go before making my decision.”

Teammates OL Rob Crudup and OL Steven Council were also invited to the Max Emfinger Iron Man competition. Athlete Dana Hart was invited to the Emfinger’s 7 on 7 Championship Select All-Stars. Plainfield QB Philip Anderson earned all-region honors from Prep Star as well.
