Winslow Township (Atco, NJ) prospect Christopher Young is one of the top line prospects in the state of New Jersey. He is 6-4, 270 pounds, and can play effectively on either side of the ball.
Winslow head coach Felton Jones says Young has a good combination of talents that make him special.
“Chris has great feet,” said Jones. “Linemen need to have those quick feet to be successful. He also has very good hands, which helps him out as well.”
Young has received interest from Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Syracuse, Illinois, Rutgers, and Iowa. He claims to have offers from all of the above.
“I have offers from Iowa, Townsend, Hofstra, Illinois, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers,” said Young. “Virginia Tech is one of my favorites. I think I may visit them this summer for a camp. I will either go there or to Hofstra.”
One of the criteria Young may use in making his decision will be which side of the ball he ends up on. Versatile enough to play on both sides, the athletic big man prefers the defensive side of things.
“I’m hoping to play defense,” said Young with a laugh. “I’m not sure where schools really want me to play, but I like defense. I like hitting people.”
As a junior, Young recorded 81 tackles with 20 tackles-for-loss. He added five sacks, earning all-league honors for his performance.
