Bethel defensive end Chris Ellis made his official announcment at 7:30 this morning in his high school library.
He’s going to be a Hokie.
“I committed to Virginia Tech,” said Ellis. “It came down to Virginia and Virginia Tech. The schools were almost identical in my mind, so it came down to a gut feeling. I didn’t answer the phone on Sunday or Monday, and I made my decision yesterday.
“I appreciate all of the schools that recruited me, and I wouldn’t trade this experience in for anything in the world.”
In addition to UVa, Ellis chose Virginia Tech over Tennessee and Maryland. With Ellis’ commitment, the Hokies have landed three of the state of Virginia’s top five prospects.
Ellis is certainly excited to be part of that group.
“It feels great to go to Virginia Tech with Xavier and Vince,” said Ellis. “We definitely need to put wins in the win column, and those players – I like to call them championship players – can help us do that.”
