Virginia Tech received its second commitment in as many days – the third in the last four days – as Hargrave Military Academy athlete Michael Hinton verbally committed.
Techsideline.com was able to confirm the commitment with Hargrave Assistant Coach Joe Neuman.
“Of course he hasn’t signed yet, but Michael Hinton has verbally committed to Virginia Tech,” said coach Neuman. “I just think he liked what he saw on his visit. Having one of his good friends Corey Gordon, who played for us last semester but is now at Virginia Tech, helped a lot as well I’m sure.”
Hinton, who has excellent athleticism (4.37 40 in the Hargrave combine) to accompany his 6-2, 195 pound frame, could play either wide receiver or defensive back at Virginia Tech.
“Michael’s got a huge upside,” said coach Neuman. “The way he is built, he could easily pack on another 20-25 pounds and not lose a step.”
Hinton becomes Virginia Tech’s 20th verbal commitment of the 2003 class. He chose the Hokies over NC State.
