Halifax running back prospect Alonzo Coleman, who recently has come in on the radar of the Virginia Tech coaching staff, made his collegiate decision this morning.
“I committed to Hampton,” said Coleman, who was Halifax County’s all-time leading rusher. “I just liked the school and the way they run things down there.”
Coleman chose Hampton over Elon, and he had taken official visits to both schools.
Late last year, Virginia Tech contacted the running back about taking an official visit to Blacksburg. An official visit was scheduled for January 31st, however Coleman will not make the trip.
“I was supposed to go to Virginia Tech on January 31st,” said Coleman. “They were trying to get me to walk-on, and I do not want to do that. I am not going to visit.”
If the Hokies do offer Coleman, things could change.
“If they offer, I don’t know, but things could change,” said Coleman. “I don’t think they will offer. If I would have camped there, then maybe they would have.”
Depending on the decision of Rodney Kinlaw, Coleman may or may not get an offer. Unless he gets an offer, however, he is set on going to Hampton.
