Robinson athlete Chase Anastasio , who is down to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, returned today from his visit to the University of Virginia.
According to Chase’s father Mike Anastasio, the visit went well.
“The visit was good,” said Mr. Anastasio. “He enjoyed being at UVa and had a good time. He enjoys the coaches, and he got to spend a lot of time with the players. It’s a beautiful school. There were no negatives from the trip.”
Chase did not commit to the Cavaliers this weekend and will conclude his official visits this weekend with a trip to Virginia Tech. He does not appear to have a leader at the moment, as he is giving each school a fair shot.
He is a terrific athlete who can play a number of positions. According to Mike Anastasio, the Virginia staff is not recruiting Chase for any particular position.
“I think Coach Groh seems to think that Chase could play on either side of the ball,” said Mr. Anastasio. “Not from anything specific the staff has told us, but I think they would like to play him in the secondary at strong safety. Chase has the leadership qualities to play that position.
“I think Chase just wants to play whatever position gets him on the field quicker.”
Chase appears to want to check out every school thoroughly before making a decision.
Mr. Anastasio said a decision should follow soon after his visit to Virginia Tech this weekend. Notre Dame and Virginia Tech have in-homes with the Anastasio’s this week while UVa will make an in-home next Tuesday following the Virginia Tech official visit.
