LB Vince Hall, who is generally considered one of the top five prospects in the state of Virginia, will likely only take two more official visits before making a decision.

The Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year has already visited Virginia Tech and visited North Carolina last weekend.

“He enjoyed his visit to North Carolina,” said Western Branch Head Coach Lew Johnston. “They pulled out all the stops on the visit. Vince said it might be somewhere he could see himself playing.”

Throughout the process, Hall has been noncommittal about naming a leader or favoring a certain team. The secrecy is not just for the recruiting analysts either.

“He hasn’t told me where he is going,” said Johnston. “I think I may have coached him a little too well. I even try to slip in a leading question, and I can’t get him to say who he likes. No one will really know until he makes his announcement.

“Knowing Vince, he already has made up his mind, but he still wants to check out every option. He will not say.”

Earlier this week, Virginia Tech paid a visit to Western Branch to meet with Hall, who is one of the Hokies top remaining targets. Coach Beamer and company have recruited Hall extremely hard since day one.

“Virginia Tech has made it very apparent that Vince is one of their number 1 guys,” said Johnston. “That’s the advantage of the in-state school is that they have been able to be in-home and in-school with him throughout.”

Hall may announce his decision as soon as the week after the Tennessee official visit. While coach Johnston hasn’t been let in on which school Hall may favor, he did venture one observation.

“Not to say this matters, but Vince certainly gets energized every time Coach Beamer and Stinespring (Hall’s recruiting coach) stop by,” said Johnston. “But I still don’t know.”

During his senior year, Hall made 131 tackles, 29 of which went for losses, and had nine sacks in 13 games.
