Miami Central quarterback Courtney Denson has been on a visit to Nebraska and will visit Auburn this weekend.
Despite taking the extra visits, Denson still remains committed to Virginia Tech.
“Yes, I’m still committed [to Virginia Tech],” said Denson. “By going on my visits, I just want to make sure. The only way I would choose another school is if I thought I could come in and start right away for the next four years.”
Denson expressed only one concern with the Hokies, and that is the hype surrounding freshman QB Marcus Vick.
“All of the talk of Marcus Vick is a little bit of a concern,” said Denson. “All I want is a fair chance. The Virginia Tech coaches have told me that the best man will get the job. I enjoy the competition, all I want is a chance.”
Having already visited Virginia Tech and Nebraska, the Auburn visit may be Denson’s last.
“I think this might be it,” said Denson.
Besides handling his recruiting situation, Denson is also gearing up for his track season. He will participate in the 100, 400, and some relay events.
He has also run some 40 times, both of which were very impressive.
“On the track, I ran a 4.2 40, and on grass, I ran something around a 4.4,” said Denson.
Once the recruiting dead period ends, the VT coaches will be able to ease Denson’s concerns about the Marcus Vick hype. Once that happens, it doesn’t look like Virginia Tech fans will have anything to worry about.
