Outstanding Lovejoy High School (Lovejoy, GA) DE/TE Michael Heard will visit Virginia for the monster January 17 recruiting weekend.

At 6-2, 220 pounds, Heard is being recruited to play outside linebacker by Virginia.

“I’m very interested in Virginia,” said Heard. “I’m visiting them on January 17, and I’ve already been offered. Then I’m going to Mississippi State on January 24. Those are the only ones scheduled right now.”

Heard has already officially visited the home-state Georgia Bulldogs. At the moment, however, he remains open in the recruiting process.

“I’m wide open right now,” said Heard, who is being recruited by Mike London. “I’m just looking for a school with a good program.”

Heard is a terrific athlete who runs around a 4.6 in the 40. As a junior, he made 17 sacks from his defensive end position, and he made six sacks in nine games as a senior.

Other schools in the mix include Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Ole Miss. His teammate, Tashard Choice, is leaning towards Georgia Tech, so the Yellow Jackets could have an influence if all his visits are equal.

It will be tough to draw Heard away from Georgia and the SEC, however he is open right now and a good Virginia visit could sway him.
