Pasadena City College DB James Griffin has cancelled his visit to West Virginia this weekend, and looks to announce his decision this Sunday at his home in Tennessee. According to Griffin, the decision is down to two schools right now.
“It’s down to LSU and Virginia Tech,” said Griffin. “I don’t know…LSU was my last visit, so they are kind of sticking in my mind right now.”
Coach Beamer had an in-home visit with James’ parents yesterday. According to Griffin, the visit was a success for the Hokie coaches.
“It went real good,” said Griffin. “It was fine. The coaches said they were happy and said that they had a good trip.”
Griffin will announce his decision Sunday night at 7:00 pm. He plans to invite a few friends and teammates to the occasion.
“Some friends, family, and some teammates will be there,” said Griffin. “A few people will be there. Jimmy Williams is supposed to be up there too. I guess you could say it’s like a press conference.”
Griffin does not have anymore in-home visits scheduled and will use the next few days to make his decision. The Hokies have a number of factors going in their favor, including a defensive system that fits Griffin’s style, good friend Jimmy Williams, and a chance to play and contribute early.
Despite Griffin’s possible slight lean to LSU, I predict that he will fax his Letter of Intent to Blacksburg on Sunday.
