Shyrone Stith

  • Running Back
  • Class of 1996
  • Chesapeake, VA (Western Branch)
  • 5-9, 180 lbs
  • Status: VT Signee
Notes: Stith was an unheralded recruit who never gained more than 1,000 yards in high school. The Tech staff discovered him while watching tape of Lorenzo Ferguson. Stith helped Tech to the National Championship Game in 1999 while rushing for over 1,100 yards.

He declared for the NFL Draft a year early because he was projected as being a first day pick. However, he dropped to the seventh round and his best NFL moment was returning a kickoff for a touchdown in a preseason game for Jacksonville. He was the Jags' main kick returner in 2000, but his career fizzled out after his rookie year.

He was cut in the offseason, and then picked up by the Colts. He played in just one game in two seasons with Indianapolis, and then his NFL career ended.
